COSR Design Summary 3

Well, first of all, I've changed the name from Cozy OSR to COSR (Cosier OSR).

It's not going to be really, fully, all-the-way cozy according to the strictest definitions of the genre, so I might as well be honest about what it is. PLUS "COSR" looks like the word "Cosier," so it's a nice fit. Nothing is changing about the design and play-style goals, just a slightly better name.

Other than the heavy lift of changing out those letters, I've been working on gear and treasures. Gear will play an important role is character agency and adventure longevity, and treasure will play an important role in... being treasure...

Here's what I've got going on!

A Selection of Household Items One Might Take on an Adventure

Candles/Lantern

Extra Socks

Fishing Pole

Jar of Balm

Leather Gloves

Length of Rope

Magnifying Glass

Ocarina

Picnic Basket (full) – Hefty

Rain Coat

Umbrella

Walking Stick

(An item is considered Hefty if it cannot be worn, stashed in a pocket, tucked into a belt, or carried comfortably while running.)

I'm almost happy with this list of basic gear. I want maybe 1 more Hefty item to help give context to the Hefty rule. Other than that, I just want this list to help quick-roll characters and inspiring players to come up with mundane items of their own.

I want to make it easy for the GM to roll random treasure at the end of the adventure. My biggest block right now is coming up with a sufficient list of mundane valuables. I'm going to keep working on this.

General treasury goods

Gold, silver, pearls, rare material, whatever

Cup, bowl, dish, necklace, crown, scepter, cape, scroll, tome, figurine, ball, horn, medallion, deck of cards, map, musical instrument, painting, toy, a large crystal bottle, a heavy locked box, ball of luxurious yarn, a log of rare wood,

What's really exciting has been coming up with cozy and cozy/utility magic items for this game. I'm still in the process of writing descriptions and figuring out if this covers the right scope of possibilities and topics.

Treasures

Choir Tchotchke (makes a lovely sound near similar objects, begins to sound like a song when placed near other Choir Tchotchkes)

Perfect Tea Cup (finely crafted and keeps tea at the perfect temperature)

Neverending Incense Stick (pick a scent, automatically stops burning after 1 hour, but can be relit)

Forecaster’s Wind Chimes (they sound nice and indicate how the weather will be) – Hefty

Elementalist’s Cube (a 1-inch stone cube that heats up, cools down, or emits air on command)

I've got to keep working on this, keep working on the fundamental system and keep working on lifestyle expenditures. I also have yet to start work on the Trouble Directory or Play Guidelines. But, it's only the 10th! I'm actually quite happy with the amount of progress I've been able to make!

Thank you for being awesome and good luck in all things!
